CONTENTS EDITORIAL TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR EACH OTHER DEAR READERS! There’s a lot going on at LANXESS right now. For one thing, we have all the new coworkers who have to adjust not only to us, the employees who were already here, but also to other process- es, structures, and procedures. Ideally, they should also adapt to our corporate culture, with its values and principles. This is challenging and will take more than just a few months. Which is why it is all the more gratifying that we often hear how well the integration is progress- ing, both with Kalama Chemical at the F&F BU and that of Microbial Control at MPP. LANXESS employees at MPP welcome the expansion of their BU and appreciate the variety and quality of the new products that have now been added to our portfolio. This unlocks many new business development opportunities (see page 11). LANXESS coworkers has been extremely helpful in this regard (see page 20). In these tumultuous times, we have to pull together as a team and support each other in the best possible way. This is what CEO Matthias Zachert emphasizes in an interview. In the past, we also suc- ceeded in doing so, most recently during the coronavirus period. This should give us confidence for the future (see page 6). Janis McDavid can serve as a role model for us in this regard. Born without arms and legs, he now travels the world as an adventurer and motivational coach. His embodiment of courage and confidence shows us what is possible – especially when we all take responsibility for one another (see page 14). Our new colleague Graham Smith, F&F BU, from Widnes, England, agrees. In an interview, he describes the advantages that the acquisition has opened up for him and his team. But he also explains how complex it often is to integrate the group directives into day-to-day work. He says the help he’s received from his HAPPY READING!
